Purandara Dasa Aradhana

It was the first ever Purandara Dasa Aradhana (music concert) celebrated in Connecticut; it was a memorable evening of Daasa-sudha of Purandara Dasa’s compositions. The ensemble presented a splendid Navaratna Malika led by Sandhya Manjunatha Nagaraj followed by an impressive group and individual presentations. They were sung and performed by children and adults. There were several music teachers – Sandhya Manjunatha, Janaki Ramanan, Anu Kothandaraman, Sujata Kidambi and Parvathi Subramanyam; the performances were rendered by their students and other individual singers (children & adults) and the accompanying artistes – Sujata Kidambi, Sriram Ramanan, Tarun Sriram, and Sudhanva Nagaraj. Sandhya did a wonderful job coordinating the music with the other teachers and leading the team. Thanks to Vranda Aithal and Latha Aswhatharayana for bringing up this initiative and volunteers of Chinmaya Saraswati Ashram helped organize this divine musical concert.

The program was MCed by Sheela Katti, who acclaimed, “It was a treat to the rasikas of classical music, and meant a lot for people like us who have a special affinity to the music in the Haridasa tradition such as Purandara Dasa. Haridasa music is much more than music. It is Jnana Sudha”.
