Our Deities

Our Deities in Chinmaya Saraswati Temple & Ashram

Tri-mata

Saraswati Mata is the pradhaana murti (main deity) consecrated in July 2014 by Swami Tejomayananda, world-wide head of Chinmaya Mission. Swami ji also inaugurated our Chinmaya Saraswati Ashram, located on rolling hills with a serene and beautiful surrounding spread over 5 acres of pristine land in Orange, Connecticut.

Saraswati Mata is accompanied by Lakshmi Devi and Durga Mata. Thus, Chinmaya Temple has the presence of thri-mata.

In the words of our Acharya, Swami Shantananda, “Chinmaya Saraswati Ashram is the most powerful Shakti Peetam across the land”, befitting a great place for learning our Sanathana Dharma (Hindu scripture), spiritual growth and devotional prayer.

Shiv Ji

The ever compassionate Lord, though being form-less and attribute-less, takes a form and a name for the benefit of the devotees. A shivalinga is said to be one of the best representations of the Lord.

The swayambhu ( self-manifest ) shiva lingas formed on the bed of the sacred Narmada river are said to be the best of the best Shiva Lingas that can be worshipped as the Lord’s presence is said to be permanently present in them. Worship of one of these Lingas is capable of removing sins accumulated in many lifetimes. Chinmaya Saraswati Temple is blessed with a swayambhu Shivalinga.

Hanuman Ji

There was a glorious celebration of Hanuman Murti prathishtapana at the Chinmaya Saraswati Ashram during July 2016 under the auspices of Swami Swaroopananda, upcoming world-wide head of Chinmaya Mission.

The consecration ceremony was rendered with the full glory of Hanuman ji with a pravachan on Sankat Mochan by Swami Swaroopananda.

Ganesh Ji

The consecration of Ganesh ji was completed along with Lakshmi Devi and Durga mata in the summer of 2015 by Swami Shantananda, our tri-state acharya.
